Jim Baerg became the Technical Director of the NWES the first year, a job which apparently saved him from a lifetime of religious extremism.  His new belief became “Energy Conservation first, last and always.”  Jim spent nearly 20 years around Bozeman designing and building energy efficient houses, and then 12 years in Seattle working and attending graduate school, another form of compulsion. Returning to Montana 10 years ago, he put his new MArch degree to work again in the service of home design, energy codes, and fixing old houses.  Jim has a wonderful family who periodically drags him away from his obsessions to adopt stray animals, car camp, and deliver fresh garden produce to the table.
